Error Codes
I have received a message entitled "Error 8884". What does this mean?
Error 8884 means that the given server could not be found. Check the connection to the server. You can log in to the server using your workstation NetWare Client, or type in the server IP address in the server name field.
I have received the following message: "NLM not loaded or NCP connection lost (Code: 89FF)".
Please check if you have sufficient rights to operate on this server. Check the connection to the server and be sure that the server is on.
I have received the error message "calwin32.dll not found". Can you send me the missing .dll?
Please ensure that you have NetWare Client installed on the workstation where you want to run AdRem Lite Console. Calwin32.dll is an integral part of NetWare Client and you will not be able to run the software without NetWare Client installed on the workstation. Please download the latest NetWare Client from the Novell website.
Connection Problems
Can I connect to the server with a broken NDS/eDirectory?
Lite Console doesn't allow you to define a special emergency user/password which can be used in case of NDS/eDirectory failure. This feature and many other useful functions are available in AdRem sfConsole. Find out more at sfConsole homepage.
How do I connect to the server using a server IP address only?
Connection with TCP/IP only is possible in NetWare 4.2 and newer. Type in the server IP in the Server field on the software toolbar. The prior logging to NDS with Novell Client is required.
Can I connect to the server via WAN?
AdRem Lite Console is optimized for functioning in a WAN environment. Type in the server IP in the Server field on the AdRem Lite Console toolbar. The prior logging to NDS with Novell Client is required. If this doesn't work, try to map the server's disk or carry out another task to check if you have a stable connection to the server via WAN. If you use firewall protection, don't forget to open NCP port 524 on your firewall.
Which port number do I have to open on my firewall to connect via WAN?
AdRem Lite Console uses the same port as the Novell Client - port 524. You need to open this port.
Which NDS object rights does a user need to access the server remotely?
To work remotely on the server you must have the console operator privilege. You can set the operator privilege with NWAdmin or ConsoleOne by doing the following: Select the server in the NDS tree in NWAdmin or ConsoleOne. Open server properties window. Select Operator tab. Add users to the list. It is also sometimes necessary to grant console operator rights to the administrator, since admin rights don't guarantee operator privilege.
